At iSAVE, we offer 12 month warranties with our iPhone repairs. If you do iPhone repairs and offer a warranty with your repairs, you have no doubt experienced this scenario….you fix a customer’s phone and at some point later you get another call/text from the same customer who just dropped their phone and broke their screen for the second time. Most of the time, you express your condolences and schedule another repair for them. You fix it again to their satisfaction, they pay you, problem solved. They may not be happy about paying for a repair the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th time but they understand that accidents are not covered under warranty.
Then you get those calls from past customers that will explain how the phone was dropped, leaned on, bent in a back pocket, etc, etc and ask “Is that covered under the warranty?” Short answer, no, sorry. Broken or damaged screens caused by any kind of accident is….you guessed it, “accidental damage” and that is most definitely not covered under our warranty. If it was, I’d probably be out of business faster than a new version of anything by Microsoft needing to be patched.
So, what exactly is covered under the warranty? Well, it’s all very clearly explained in our contract that is initialed and signed by each customer, but perhaps it’s time to explain it a bit further…..
The 12 month warranty you get with an iSAVE repair covers your iPhone screen repair against dead spots, dead pixels, discoloration, and separating screens.
Dead spots are small areas on a screen that are completely non-responsive to touch. These are easily discovered by moving an App around your screen. The App should follow your finger around as you move it all around the screen. If it drops, you’ve discovered a dead spot. The iSAVE warranty covers this issue and we’ll replace your screen, free of charge, if this happens within your 12 month warranty period.
Dead pixels are tiny colored specs on the screen that do not go away regardless of what the rest of the display is doing. They are most easily seen against a black background. While they will not interfere with the functionality of your phone, they could be annoying. The iSAVE warranty covers this issue and we’ll replace your screen, free of charge, if this happens within your 12 month warranty period.
Discoloration on your iPhone screen can appear as a yellowish, blueish, or reddish blotch. These are caused by a defect in the digitizer and can happen spontaneously or over time. The iSAVE warranty covers this issue and we’ll replace your screen, free of charge, if this happens within your 12 month warranty period.
Separating screens can be a real problem that can lead to further issues if not taken care of quickly. This can be described as the glass separating from the frame and can occur in some defective screens. You guessed it….the iSAVE warranty covers this issue and we’ll replace your screen, free of charge, if this happens within your 12 month warranty period.
These issues are all possible but thankfully very rare. So rare in fact that I’ve only had to redo 2 phones in the last 12 months. I attribute this to the fact that I only use the best quality screens for all of my repairs and I take my time to make sure each repair is done correctly.
So, even though accidental damage is not covered under the iSAVE warranty, there are plenty of other potential defects that are covered…for a full 12 months! The next time you need your iPhone repaired, make sure you get a good warranty with your repair. Anything short of 12 months may mean that they aren’t using the best parts available. Better yet, just call iSAVE today at 510-907-9790 for a professional repair done in the convenience of your home, office or local coffee shop and take comfort in knowing that you are covered from possible defects for a full 12 months.
